YOU sHOESE! A showcase
of students creativity
As part of the business class activities, Pr. Zineb El Hammoumi asked students to present a short business plan meant for the bank about customized running shoes.
Two students, Ayman Saghli and Rym Yamout, stood out with their project. Indeed, in their presentation, they were able to combine the two fundamental principles of our fictitious business; the production of running shoes and the buyer’s involvement in the creation process. They even took the exercise to the next level by picking a very peculiar name “YOU sHOESE!” and choosing the logo. Rym explained that the idea behind it was to mix between the two components of the essence of the project: shoes, the product itself and choose, the customization service they are offering ad thus creating a captivating brand name translating perfectly their business idea

So, what is creativity?
Creativity is the capacity to see things in a modern and unordinary light, to see issues that no one else may indeed realize it exist, and after that to come up with unused, unique, successful and effective solutions. Creativity is exploring thoughts or ideas that are new or different in some way from previous thoughts and ideas. Exploring thoughts and ideas can be expressed by people in numerous ways. It can be expressed through drawing, writing, singing, or even doing something else. Creativity is different from one person to another, but everyone is creative in their own ways. Sometimes, in order to be creative, you need to think outside of the box and begin to think of something that is new and different than what is normally out there.
It is the feeling you get when you bring an idea to life. There are few things more powerful than creating something, especially when that thing is the product of your own imagination, daydreaming or brainstorming; starting from an idea to a concept, and then to an art form creation- An art which is not reserved for artists only, but which applies to everyone.
Why is it important in business?
“Creativity is the most practical thing a businessman can employ.” Bill Bernbach
Companies operate today in an extremely competitive, global environment, making creativity essential and critical. Creativity is what stimulates big ideas and concepts, challenges employees’ way of thinking and doing things, and opens the door to new business opportunities. Creativity in business is a crucial first step that needs to be prioritized by senior leadership. A study of more than 1,500 CEOs has shown that creativity was ranked as the first factor for future business success—above management discipline, integrity, and even vision.
One reason for that is: Creative leaders are more comfortable with ambiguity. And as industries continue to evolve, business goals and priorities will need to change. This means that only creative businesses will be able to keep up with the changes, survive and succeed. The others will only disappear.
